Pathogen coverage:
S. aureus (2nd line); used often for community acquired-MRSA (D-test negative)
D test = inducible resistance
Strep (2nd line) – 10 - 15% resistance in S. pneumoniae

Clinical Uses:
Skin, skin structure infections – especially CA-MRSA
Useful in some bone & joint infections
Component to target anaerobes (not in the belly) – eg. PID, lung abscess
Turn off toxin production (eg, necrotizing fasciitis due to group A strep)
Topical: acne, rosacea, bacterial vaginosis
