  • Risks: prior abdominal or pelvic surgery, neoplasm, hernia, abscess
  • Sx: bilious vomiting, abdominal pain
  • PE: possibly high-pitched bowel sounds
  • Dx: X-ray with dilated bowelair-fluid levels, a stack of coins or string of pearls sign
    • Diagnosis is made by imaging, most often with CT
  • Tx: NPO, IVF, possible NG tube, surgery
